You can even show your grandparents how it works and get them actively involved in sharing with the family.

Let’s dive in and learn how to transfer photos from Android to a Pix-Star digital picture frame!

  1. Download the Pix-Star Snap Mobile App

Open the Play Store on your Android device (both tablets and phones are supported). Type “Pix-Star Snap” in the search bar and download the app. Once downloaded and installed, open the Pix-Star Snap app and grant all the permission requests. This gives the app access to your gallery and camera so that you can capture new photos or select pictures from your phone’s gallery.

Here are the sending methods in the Pix-Star Snap app’s main menu:
“Histo & Cam”: Capture new photos and/or select previously capture pictures from your phone’s gallery.

“Folder”: Send entire folders filled with photos. These folders can be automatically created (e.g., Telegram or WhatsApp), or can be manually created and filled with photos of your choice.

“Video”: Select a previously captured video from your phone’s storage, or a video file sent to your phone from other sources.

“Audio”: Natively record audio notes up to 2-minutes long directly inside the app. This can be done through the phone’s microphone, or an attached microphone (e.g., on headphones or with an external microphone).

Take a moment to familiarize yourself with the different options and where to find the options you’re most interested in. For sending photos, the “Histo & Cam” and “Folder” options are where you need to be. Let’s look at the different methods for sending photos.

  2. Capture & Share Photos from Your Phone’s Gallery

Click on the “Histo & Cam” option from the Pix-Star Snap’s main menu. If this is your first time opening the app, you might need to grant the app permission (through the popup notification) to access your camera and gallery.

Here you can capture new photos using the shutter icon found at the bottom-center of the screen. Simply press the circle shutter button to capture a photo (you can also turn on the flash or flip the camera using the relevant option). This will take you to the review screen. If you’re happy with the photo, press the red checkmark found at the bottom-right corner of the screen. To add your frame’s unique email address, read Step 3 below.

Alternatively, you can select previously captured photos from your phone’s gallery. To do this, select the “Histo & Cam” option from the main menu of the Pix-Star Snap app. On the next screen, swipe up on the gallery bar at the bottom of the screen (just above the shutter button).

This will expand the gallery screen where you can select the pictures you want to send. To select multiple images, long-press (hold down) on the picture to select it without moving to the next screen. You can then tap on any other photos you want to send. Photos that have been previously sent to your frame will have a green checkmark.

Currently selected photos will have a white checkmark. When you’ve selected all the photos you want to send, click on “OK” in the top-right corner of the screen. Then click on the red check-box on the bottom right corner of the next screen. Move onto Step 3 to add your frame to the app.

  3. Add Your Pix-Star Frame’s Unique Address

If this is the first time sending pictures to your Pix-Star frame, you need to add your frame to the app via its unique email address. Once you’ve selected all the pictures you want to send to your frame, you’ll be brought to the “Pix-Star Frames” screen.

Here’s what you need to do:
Select the “Add a Pix-Star frame” option near the bottom of the display. Input the first part of your Pix-Star frame unique email address – you don’t need to add the @mypixstar.com as it’s done automatically. Type your name into the “Your Name” field.

Click on the red “Add Frame” option at the bottom of the display when you’re ready. This will return you to the previous screen. You should see your frame in the list. You can add multiple frames (you need to know their unique Pix-Star email address) by clicking the “Add a Pix-Star frame” option as many times as needed.

Choose the frames you’d like to send the selected photos to by clicking on the checkmark box on the right side of the display (one check box per frame). You can also add an optional message along with the photos. Click on the “Message (optional)” field and type in your message. Leave it blank if you don’t want to add any message.

Click on the black arrow icon at the bottom right corner of the display to send the picture to your frame. This will start the sending process, displayed as a red percentage bar. Once the photo has successfully been sent, the bar will turn green and show 100% when the sending has been completed.

Now you can move over to step 4 to show the photos in a slideshow on your frame!

  4. Start a Slideshow with Your New Photos

From your Pix-Star frame’s main menu, use the remote control to highlight the “My Pictures, videos & messages” option. Click “OK” on the remote. Under the “Pix-Star” tab, highlight the “Inbox” option and click “OK”. Navigate to the folder the notification (red circle in the top left corner of the folder box) and click “OK”.

Here you can view the photos sent from the app. You can select the “Play all pictures” option from the left-hand panel, or view them individually by highlighting the photos and clicking “OK”.

Alternatively, you can select “Play all the frame’s pictures” from the main menu. You can also change the frame’s settings to play recent photos more frequently, or set the frame to randomize the playback order and frequency. These settings are all found in the “Settings” section from the main menu.

Now that you know how to transfer photos from Android to a digital picture frame, you’re ready to get started. Make sure your Pix-Star is connected to Wi-Fi and start sending!

Now you can send photos from anywhere in the world and it takes less than a minute! You can also send photos to everybody in the family and all connected frames – at the same time! Enjoy sharing your favorite pictures and memories with your loved ones with the Pix-Star digital picture frame!
